Scientific committee «Heritage of the XX century»
The Scientific сommittee of the National сommittee of ICOMOS, Russia “Heritage of the XX century” was established with the aim of:
- studying, identifying and placing under state protection monuments of architectural and urban heritage of the twentieth century, collecting authentic historical information on objects of this period;
- creation of the information base of the heritage of the twentieth century in Russia;
- creating a list of twentieth-century sites with the potential to be included in the World Heritage List from Russia;
- participation in international projects on research and expertise of cultural heritage sites of the twentieth century, monitoring their condition, sharing knowledge and experience, taking into account the results of the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee for the Preservation of the Heritage of the Twentieth Century (ISC20C);
- development and implementation in modern practice of methods and approaches for determining the value and preservation of heritage sites of the twentieth century, including relying on the international doctrines of ICOMOS in this area;
- performing fundamental and applied research on the “Legacy of the twentieth Century”; publishing scientific research in specialized publications;
- exchange of professional experience through scientific and methodological conferences and round tables;
- popularization of the heritage of the twentieth century, the formation of an understanding of its value and originality in the development of Russian cities.
MEMBERSHIP
Any member of NC ICOMOS, Russia, can become an expert member of the Scientific сommittee “Heritage of the XX Century” upon confirmation of qualifications in the field of study, protection and preservation of heritage sites of the XX century.
A member of ICOMOS who does not have sufficient experience in this field of activity, but wants to gain knowledge and enhance experience in this field, can become an associate member of the Scientific Committee “Heritage of the XX Century”.
To join the Scientific committee “Heritage of the XX Century” of ICOMOS, Russia, it is necessary to send an application to its Secretary General.
The decision on inclusion is made by a majority vote of the expert members of the Scientific Committee at the next meeting.
The first meeting of the Scientific Committee “Heritage of the XX Century” was held on September 23, 2022, at which the initial composition was approved and the Bureau was elected.
